MONTREAL, March 23 / PRNewswire / Travel technology specialist IBS Software (IBS) has reached a definitive agreement with Massachusetts-based Kronos Incorporated to acquire AD OPT, an aviation software leader providing crew management solutions to some of the biggest names in the global aviation industry. AD OPT (www.ad-opt.com) was founded in Montreal in 1987 by a group of mathematicians and business researchers and was acquired in 2004 by Kronos, a multinational software and services company for workforce management with almost 6,000 employees worldwide. AD OPT's state-of-the-art crew planning and optimization platform currently operates some of the world's leading airlines including Air Canada, EasyJet, Emirates, FedEx, Garuda, Lion Air and Qantas. The multi-million dollar acquisition is an integral part of IBS’s growth strategy to become the world's leading technology provider to the aviation industry. In its 21-year history, IBS has made six strategic acquisitions - three in the US, two in Europe and one in India.

IBS is a specialist in aviation software and supports the flight operations of large airlines such as British Airways, KLM and Emirates. This significant acquisition will help IBS leverage AD OPT's extensive expertise to deliver the most advanced, complete and integrated digital solution to the highly complex task of flight and crew management. The merging of the assets, expertise and capabilities of IBS and AD OPT will bring state-of-the-art, holistic software for crew planning, pairing optimization, crew deployment planning, optimization, tracking and management of the entire operation of large and complex network operators to the market. The acquisition of AD OPT will add more than 20 airline customers to IBS, significantly increase IBS’s footprint in North America, increase IBS’s go-to-market capabilities and improve IBS’s addressable market. The move will also broaden IBS’s management breadth by adding the AD OPT team, which is made up of highly qualified subject matter experts, some with more than 25 years of flight operations experience.
